What really matters in life
A lot of younger folks are obsessed with physical looks, appearance and status. These things all absolutely do not matter in the slightest. What really matters are the qualities of the soul. Looks fade, and our bodies are only temporary. This is something that will not be understood by most individuals until they reach the end of their lives: When you lie on your death bed and your physical body demises, you start to realize what actually matters:
- How much have you grown?
- How much wisdom were you able to accure in your lifetime?
- Where you able to forgive the people who have done you wrong in the past?
- Where you able to forgive yourself for your wrongdoings?
- Where you able to work with and cleanse all the emotions that have bottled up inside your body?
- Have you experienced your desires?
- Do you still have attachements to the physical world?
All these things combined make up the evolutionary content of your lifetime, and that is what you take with you when you leave this plane! It is important from time to time to re-mind ourselves of the things that truly matter. If we take our eye of the ball and focus on superficial things like looks and status, we will head down a downwards spiral that will further lead to our civilisational demise.
Excessive focus on technological advancement
Section titled “Excessive focus on technological advancement”As a computer programmer myself I am quite fond of our technology that we enjoy today. But our tech is a double edged sword. Really, what do you think is the purpose of technology? In my opinion it’s purpose is to aid mankind in its spiritual and moral development, not to entertain our minds. In our current mindset, everything about technology needs to be faster, more performant, more intelligent. The strive for technoligical advancement in itself is not necessarily wrong in my opinion, at least if it is done in a balanced and beneficial way for humanity. What do I mean by ‘balanced’? Let’s take a look at our planetary situation. As of now (Dec. 2025) thousands of human souls are dying due to starvation, disease and war on a daily basis. All of it because of our own failure. We can build super-intelligent micro computers, robots and rockets that can fly to space, but somehow we can’t figure out a way to give food, medicine, clothing and shelter to everyone on the planet. Is that not strange? Could it be that our collective focus is slightly, no heavily, misplaced on our technological rather than our moral development? Sometimes I feel that, even though humanity has progressed so much technologically, from a moral standpoint we still haven’t progressed much since the middle ages. This is actually quite scary. Being technologically advanced but morally immature is just not a good combo, really, it’s a recipe for disaster.
